FAQ

Who owns Bulsho Fund?

The Fund is owned by everyone and no one. Communities are the most important stakeholders of the Fund. Everyone interested in supporting communities across Somalia to solve their most challenging problems is automatically a stakeholder too. That includes you.

Who Funds the Fund

Bulsho Fund accepts donations from individuals, companies, local and international organizations. All our donors share the same objective- to place communities at the centre of decision-making and prioritize what matters the most to them. Funds are then placed at the disposal of the communities through a transparent process and decisions on their use are determined by consensus. We place young people at the heart of this process because we recognize their significant role as champions for their communities.

What do you Fund?

We provide investments in community-prioritized initiatives. We also encourage donors to support these verified initiatives. Donors can choose to give directly to these projects instead of providing the funds to us. We do not fund political projects and initiatives that do not demonstrate a clear contribution to a community’s long-term resilience.

How can I participate?

We have so many roles you can fill! As a youth ambassador, you can advocate on behalf of your community and utilize a consensus process to create a community initiative. Alternatively, you can volunteer your time and expertise to a community project. You can also donate to a project or help us fundraise.

You can also help us amplify our message and also hold us accountable. Our oversight body and other committees rely on volunteers and we’d love you to be a part of it.

Is this just another donor project?

Yes and No. We are working with donors to improve how communities are supported to solve their most pressing challenges and we accept funding from donors. However, communities make the most important decisions and determine the work of the Fund. Our donors are diverse and every contribution and contributor have a role. This is not a short-term project. It’s a project for life. Until communities don’t need it anymore.
